Let’s go!
Why Aurora?
Amazing scenery, proximity to downtown Toronto, affordable living, higher income, safe neighborhoods, growing economy and business landscape. What else is there to want? Here are a few reasons why people are considering Aurora.
Beautiful Scenery
To the south of the city is Lake Ontario and to the north is Lake Simcoe; filled with beautiful trails, picnic areas, and outdoor activities. Georgina Island, which is a local nature reserve is one of the lake islands that attracts many every year. The houses on this island combine past, present, and future architecture. Notes of antiquity, modern convenience, and smart-home features are all found in Georgina.
Proximity to Downtown
Many people are concluding that the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto is old news and they want to live in a city where they have space to park their cars, ditch the traffic and raise their family in a house with a big garden. Even if you work in Downtown, you are only fifty kilometers away. Walk into a major business center or mall during the day, and return to your peaceful haven at the end of it all.
Aurora does not have a complicated road map. Highway 404 is the most convenient road connecting Aurora to other major cities in the GTA (Pickering, Markham, Brampton, Whitby, etc.)
Higher Income
Many people move to Aurora to find work. According to latest statistics, the average household income in Aurora is approximately one hundred forty thousand CAD. This number is higher than both the provincial and national averages, which currently stand at around one hundred ten thousand CAD and eighty-five thousand CAD respectively.
Business Development
Aurora is a thriving business center with many large companies like Amazon and Bulk Barn Foods Limited. Aurora offers a variety of business licenses to help companies navigate regulations. These licenses include permits for eco-friendly and tech-savvy ventures, reflecting the city’s diverse range of businesses. Each license represents a significant achievement, demonstrating that the business operates with honour and devotion, fostering trust and unity within the community.
The city offers favorable conditions for entrepreneurs, so research the market and support measures available before taking the plunge.
Save, Save, Save!
With inflation on the rise, many are finding it a challenge to pay for bills. Food, transportation, gas, taxes and residential costs are increasing. Fortunately, Aurora is one of the most affordable cities in the GTA with a lower cost of living; easing the pressure for families trying to save for their children’s future.
Housing Accommodations
Aurora has a wealth of land. Most properties are brand new as major developers have focused on this city in the past five years. The median sale price of homes in this area is just under half a million dollars. Homes are quite spacious, with more bedrooms than residents. Perfect for indicating a room as your home office!
Perks of Work-From-Home
Personal Convenience
The best perk of WFH (Work-From-Home) is its convenience. Decide what you want to wear two minutes before your meeting and still make it on time. You’re your favorite coffee and a sandwich from your own fridge while you think of the new proposal you are going to pitch to your manager. Wear slippers and mismatched socks. Who is going to stop you? No one. Obviously, you are still a professional while working remotely and doing your job as best as you can, but if reindeer socks have a positive impact on your productivity, then why not.
Personalized Work Zone
As grown-up adults who have bills to pay around the clock, we spend most of our wake hours working. So, it’s very important to be in a comfortable work atmosphere.
Thankfully, when you WFH, you can adjust all variables to your liking. Adjust the lighting and temperature in the room, play rock music if it helps; spray your favorite perfume, leave candles on, kick your feet up on the table. It’s up to you.
When working remote, you don’t have to deal with uncomfortable office conditions like a cold air conditioner that is blowing into your face or a closed window on a hot summer day. You can work from your desk, your bed, or even upside down if that works for you.
No More Commuting!
You no longer have to deal with traffic jams or crowded public transportation at rush hour. Remote work can help you save money on transportation and gas expenses since you only need to walk a few steps to your computer or laptop to start working.
Creating an Efficient Home Office Space
Creating a private workspace is essential when working from home. It is the key to mindfulness and efficiency.
There are a few simple tricks you can use to build a more comfortable and productive home office.
Will You Have Visitors?
When setting up a home office, it’s important to consider what this space is going to serve. Think about how you’ll be using the space. Will you be making conference calls over video call or having clients over? Do you need to keep kids or pets away from your workspace? Do you need storage space?
It’s better to choose one certain area as your office, as working from multiple locations in your home can be less productive.
Additionally, it’s important to ensure that your workspace is well-ventilated and at an appropriate temperature. A stuffy room can make it difficult to concentrate, so fresh air is key.
Give It Some Light
If you’re someone who likes to work late into the night or if you live in an area with limited natural light, I’ve got a great solution for you – ambient lighting! All you need to do is place a few inexpensive rope LED lights around your workspace, following the edges of your desk to create a soft and warm glow.
To add some personality and warmth to your workspace, why not add a high-quality desk or floor lamp? Choose something with a unique design like a brass lamp to make your workspace feel cozy and inviting.
Hope this helps!
To Remember
Placing a calendar on the wall helps you keep a better eye on your planning needs. What’s the result? You’ll feel far more efficient and in control of your time. All your plans and meetings will be marked on the calendar.
Make it meaningful: put some stickers or photos or draw silly cartoon characters to turn this calendar into a keepsake that you can look back on. You’ll be proud of how much hard work you put in.
Make It Glamorous
By surrounding yourself with items that you cherish, you are more likely to step into the office with a positive mood, ready to work hard for a longer period of time. You can use anything you like, from small lamps to cozy cushions for your chair.
Keep it Simple, Keep it Tidy
Did you know that having too many things on your desk can hurt your productivity? It’s true! Try to make a habit of cleaning your desk regularly or set a reminder on your phone to declutter at the end of your shift. Keeping your workspace clean and organized will help you stay on task and work more efficiently.
Give it a try and see how much better you feel!
A Personal Story
Every day, we are so thankful that families choose us to take care of their precious belongings on moving day. We learn so much from each customer and they have been so kind to share their life-stories with our team all along our company’s journey. There was a family that always sticks in mind when we talk about the city of Aurora. It was a single father of 3 children who had called us to move. When we arrived to his home, he asked us to pack everything so he could spend some time with the kids outside. He told us that he had decided to work from home so he would be able to spend more time with the children who were all just under 6 years of age. He had recently gotten separated from his wife and did not know how to handle all responsibilities alone while physically having to show up to work everyday. The good news was that he had gotten a great job in Aurora, and was given the flexibility to work from home anytime he wished. When we got to his new residence in Aurora, he setup his home office in one of the bedrooms, with the simplest furniture. The only thing on his desk, the picture of his 3 children all together. Kids were running around all day, excited with joy. They ran outside with their dog and rolled on the grass in the garden. Life was beautiful again. We wish him all the best and keep in touch with him to this very day.
